My 33rd birthday weekend was great. Nothing exciting, but a wonderful weekend nonetheless capped off with a casual BBQ with a small group of friends at Meg & Chris’. Thank you, friends. And thanks to all of my long-distance friends & family who called, texted & emailed! Your love was felt.

Proof of Life
I’ve been asked to provide proof of life. Here are a couple shots from Humboldt Park while out photographing a couple last weekend. While in school, every January-March is exceptionally stressful & busy due to the annual search for a new practicum training position that will begin in summer/fall. The many rules & regulations, processes...
Turkey Party 2009 (Chicago style)
I officially declare the 6th Annual Turkey Party (after a one-year hiatus) a success! The turkey was ridiculously moist and flavorful and declared to be better than most mothers’, a compliment I do not take lightly. The contributed dishes were delicious and the company entertaining. Hurray for Thanksgiving! The Monday before I had yet to...
Dearest friends not in Chicago,
Wishing that each and every one of you could join me at a long table tonight as we (over)indulge in turkey and all of the delicious fixins you would bring. Remembering fondly, K~ Dearest friends in Chicago, I’m looking forward to sharing this tradition with each of you! Anticipating, K~
Families – Love ‘em!
In addition to a couple weddings this month I will have the opportunity to photograph 10+ families in the next few weeks! Kicking off my family portrait extravaganza tonight was a family who are originally from the Midwest, moved to So Cal (where I first met them at church), and then moved to Chicagoland about...
On the weather.
It’s strange here. The wind often blows up quite suddenly. The temperature shifting +/- 10 degrees within a matter of minutes, it seems. And then the rain. That comes suddenly too, a torrential downpour. When the wind blows along with the rain I jump up to shut the windows, or at least lower them three-quarters...
Danish Visitors & Birthday (A post delayed)
With the craziness of the end of summer term and my laziness since the term ended on Tuesday, I just remembered that I had failed to even look at pictures taken when Jan & J-A were visiting earlier this month to celebrate my 32nd birthday with me. A perfect activity for a Sunday afternoon. The...
Photowalk 09: Chicago’s Historic Loop
Yesterday I joined photographers from all over the state to walk the streets of Chicago with our cameras. Some brought out the big guns, toting several SLR cameras with behemoth lenses while others kept it simple with a pocket-sized point-n-shoot. Whatever camera one had, the cameraderie was the same and it was great fun to...
The City after fireworks
Many photos to go through from the past two weekends – Mackinac Island & Danish visitors – but this one snapped walking back to the train after the city’s fireworks display on the 3rd caught my eye, the Chicago skyline bathed in a smoky glow amplified by the Metra railway lights.
Wrigley
When I decided that Chicago was to be my future home, almost immediately I was asked which team I was going to side with. Neither a sports fan nor knowledgeable about Chicago rivalries I idiotically asked, “Huh?” I was quickly schooled on the Cubs/White Sox rivalry and given a thorough description of the teams’ histories,...
